If you follow me on Social Media, and you should, I post pictures of stuff and say things, you might have seen me start going on about a project or style that I’m calling Industrial Swamp Gothic – or Foetid. This is mainly something for myself – not a commission or part of anything I’m trying to sell. That’s important, I think, when you paint wargames commissions. It can be tiring to do things for other people, according to other people’s styles – sometimes, you just need to make up something that’s only for you.
Industrial Swamp Gothic
I’ve long been jealous of the various projects you see on instagram that fit under the #28 theme. These range from adaptations of classic GW games like Inquisitor28, to wild and wacky personal projects like Cauldron, Turnip28 and Aetherpunk28. These are all great projects / games, and I own miniatures for some (or all) of these ideas. However, I always wanted my own. That’s where I came up with the idea that I call Industrial Swamp Gothic.
#Foetid28
So, what is Industrial Swamp Gothic, or Foetid28? Well, it’s a personal project, and hopefully eventually a game of my own, about pilgrims exploring the Swampy, Industrial and Gothic overgrown ruins of alternative future Earth. The Factory Mages of Earth have caused nature itself to rise up against them, and the world has been overwhelmed by Foetid swamp and fungus. Those that remain have been transformed into the Denizens. Extra-Terrestrial survivors of the fall return to explore the ruins.
